The short version
This site sets one item of local storage to remember what you decide here. Nothing else runs unless you turn it on. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, neither is pre-selected, and you can change your choice at any time using the link, which also sits in the footer of every page.
There are three categories. Strictly necessary cannot be switched off because the site cannot honour your choice without it. Analytics andmarketing are off until you switch them on, and you can accept one without the other.
How the choice is enforced
Optional scripts are written into every page in an inert form that browsers do not execute. They are only rewritten as live scripts once the category they belong to has been consented to, so a refusal is not a promise. The code has no way to run. If you withdraw a category that has already started in the current page, the page reloads so that it stops.

Strictly necessary storage does not require consent because the site cannot honour your choice without it.
Optional: analytics
Analytics tell us which pages are read and where people give up, so that the site can be made more useful. They are never used to identify you. As of the date at the foot of this page no analytics provider is running on this site: the category exists, it is switched off, and if you consent to it today nothing loads because there is nothing to load. Every cookie a provider sets will be named in the table below, with its purpose and its lifetime, before that provider is allowed to go live.
Optional: marketing
Marketing storage would let us see whether an advert or a campaign brought you here, and let advertising platforms show you relevant advertising elsewhere. It is treated exactly like analytics: off unless you switch it on, listed here by name before anything is used, and consented to separately, so accepting analytics does not accept marketing.

Third-party content
This site does not embed videos, maps, chat widgets, advertising or social media buttons, so no third party sets cookies through it. If that changes, the embed will be held behind the same consent as everything else rather than loaded on arrival.
Refreshing your choice
We ask again after 180 days so that a decision you made long ago does not stand indefinitely. You can also clear site data in your browser settings, which removes the record entirely and causes the banner to appear again.
